Abstract
The objective of this study is to clarify the relationship between the building and its surrounding environment that fluctuates due to season, time and weather. It aims also to evaluate the appearance of an architecture. Photographs of nine buildings with different background were taken for subjective evaluation. The buildings locate at the historical and cultural districts, and modem streets in Nagoya. The photography and measurements of environmental conditions were conducted at the time of sunrise, culmination, and sunset from 5th to 9th, Sep., 2012. Using those images. psychological responses were measured with semantic different method. As a result. the changes in weather affect "atmospheric feeling", and different landscape elements affect "aesthetic sense". Landscape elements correspond mainly to the subjective evaluation in the morning and in the evening sky situations relate to the subjective one. Consequently, it is found that the subjective impression can be related to environmental elements regarding color and buildings.
