In this study, we propose the determination of SVOCs emissions for full-scale electrical appliances using the purging flow rate evaluated by CFD analysis and the concentration measured by experiment. Emission mechanisms of VOCs SVOCs in test chamber are examined and the emission rates for SVOCs from LCD TV in the center of a vertical plug flow within the test chamber(19.7 m^3) are measured. The predicted emission rates for toluene and Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) from the LCD TV turned off were 26.5μg/(unit・h) and 0.4μg/(unit・h), which was of the same order of magnitude as that measured by the other test method proposed. SVOCs emission rates from full-scale appliances can be measured even though a drawback with this method is of its inability to measure very low concentrations of SVOCs.
