Abstract
Spanish speakers (SS) moving to Japan, mainly as economic migrants and conjugal migrants, deal with learning and using a second language, as well as maintaining their native language. It was found that gender interacts with a number of factors, which may affect linguistic outcomes. These women do not have any restriction to learn the host society language, although their investment in acquiring it differs depending on their social environment and lifestyle choices.
