Abstract
Recently, an aqueous solution of alkali/urea used at low temperature has been proposed as a new cellulose solvent. There is limited information of enzymatic digestibility of the treated cellulose using this solution. In this study, various alkali/urea treated celluloses were prepared with different temperature, and investigated their enzymatic digestibilities. Both enzymatic digestibilities of treated celluloses at low temperature (lower than -20℃) and high temperature (higher than 100℃) increased. However, the treated cellulose at low temperature was higher than other samples in low loading cellulase. The amount of released cellulase from this sample was also high during the short-time saccharification. It was suggested that the rate and amount of released cellulase are affect the enzymatic digestibility using low loading cellulase.
