Driftweeds arriving at the Enoshima seashore in Kamakura are sustainable and large-scale centralised biomass resources. In this research, gasification of macroalgae was conducted for high hydrogen gas yield. The relation between temperature and conversion/product gas composition was investigated, as well as the produced sulphur compounds in gas product. The condition for high hydrogen yield was T=900℃, in which the H_2S content is relatively high. By using low-priced nickel catalyst for steam reforming in gasification for the condition, sulphur may be reduced by its poisoning, and higher hydrogen may be produced.
