Phase Doppler measurements were performed to understand the characteristics of burning sprays from the secondary fuel nozzle (ECF: Emission Control Fuel nozzle) of a lean two-stage aero-engine model combustor, at a condition simulating a flight phase of approach to airport for landing. Spray data were acquired more comprehensively in terms of fuel split (S_E=36, 39.5, 43, 50, 64%: S_E is the fraction of fuel flow provided to the ECF.) for better interpretation than in our previous study. The enhanced datasets support our interpretation correlating the dependence of the ECF spray evaporation characteristics on S_E, especially at a location after around 65mm downstream from the ECF exit (along the ECF jet), with that of the combustion efficiency. The results of spatial partial derivatives of spray mass flux density for S_E=36, 39.5 and 43% suggest that the enhancement of evaporation for the larger S_E cases compared with the smaller is more significant in the region of the trace of the interaction of the ECF jet with the burnt gas from the primary burner, than in the other regions.
