The purpose of this study was to investigate the cold adaptive properties of the aged haenyeos by their work and thermal environments. We carried out one-on-one interviews and questionnaires in Jeju Island, Korea. The survey was conducted from January to March 2014 (N=104, 69±8 yr in age, 156±16 cm in height, 57±9 kg in body mass, 23±3% in body fat). Cold and heat tolerance of the heanyeos tended to be attenuated with older age when compared to their 20's. Haenyeos responded that they were more sensitive to heat and cold than ordinary women in their similar age group.
