<Purpose> The purpose of this study was to clarify relationship between clinical competence of new graduate nurses and instructive support from colleagues at the time of one year after graduation. <Method> 77 new graduate nurses who had worked at hospital wards for one years completed anonymous questionnaire about Clinical Nurse Competence Self-assessment Scale(CNCSS)and Support from coworkers(head nurses, senior nurses and peer nurses). CNCSS has 13 subscales and 4-point Likert type with 64 items, and Support from coworkers scale has 3 subscales and 5-point Likert type with 14 items. <Result> New graduate nurses recognized support about “giving counsel or providing for comfort” and “generating self-reflection” from senior nurses more than from other coworker. Recognition of support from peer nurses showed a weak correlation with 11 factors of clinical competence. Otherwise there was scarcely any relationship between clinical competence and recognition of support from head nurses or senior nurses. <Discussion> New graduate nurses have recognized that support of senior nurses was most important. But that recognition had no relationship with clinical competence of new graduate nurses. So it is assumed that new graduate nurses grew by helping each other. It is suggested that the way of supporting new graduate nurses instructively should be examined.
