抄録

In this paper, an interview research is conducted to investigate how eight intermediate and advanced level learners from non-kanji background have been learning kanji. Through comparing their strategies and preferences to learning stroke and shape of kanji, two implications are suggested: (1) the individual differences of their approach to kanji learning have been changed along with the development of language level, (2) the present approaches reflect their goals of language learning. Our paper also reports four cases of kanji learning by intermediate level learners.
