抄録

Cerebral concussion and acute subdural hemorrhage (ASDH) can be caused by sagittal rotational acceleration on to the head, even when no contusion on the head is involved. Cerebral concussion has been studied in American football games and ASDH in boxing matches. ASDH due to a rupture of the bridging vein in judo players is drawing people's attention in Japan these days. Very few studies on it, however, have been carried out. Our researches obviously show that an occipital impact in judo practice has something to do with a rupture of the bridging vein. Especially osoto-gari, one of the judo techniques, is considered to be closely related to it. According to some other studies, a rupture of the bridging vein occurs with the posterior-anterior rotational impact against the head at the rotational acceleration rate of 4 500 rad/sec2 and over, and at the rotational velocity of 50 rad/sec and over.
