抄録

In this study, a short-time calibration technique for blood pressure measurement by pulse wave velocity(PWV) method is proposed. PWV method has the advantages to provide continuous systolic blood pressure from pulse transit time (PTT), and to avoid the excessive burden caused by the cuff in conventional sphygmomanometers. In order to apply PWV method, it is necessary to calibrate the sensor for each individual person. Although currently we can calibrate the sensor by assigning a physical exercise test to the individual, this calibration method takes about 30 minutes and represents a significant burden. In order to solve these issues, we devise a new calibration method using individual vascular properties values. There are correlations between vascular properties values and the two parameters of the formula for calculating blood pressure. In the newly devised calibration method, we set one of the two parameters using individual vascular properties values, and then retrieve the other parameter by assigning a physical or mental load lighter and shorter than in the current method. We applied this method and current method to 17 young subjects and 21 eldery subjects. RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) was used to compare the calibration accuracy difference between the two methods. As for the eldery subjects, RMSE increased by only 5mmHg though calibration time was shorten to 1/5 compared to current method. As for young subjects, RMSE increased by only 3mmHg though the exercise load assigned to subjects decrease to 1/4 compared to current method.
