抄録

The failure behavior of poly(methyl metahcrylate)(PMMA) was investigated under pure shear state of stress both in ethanol and in air environments at room temperature. The craze (crack) formation was identified under pure shear not only in ethanol but also in air. The critical crazing (cracking) stress in ethanol was greatly less than that in air.
