抄録

The stereo PIV measurements are performed in turbulent flows through a circular pipe with and without a semicircular orifice. The measurement in a pipe without orifice provided mean velocity in three directions as well as six components of the Reynolds stress. All quantities indicated a typical fully developed turbulent flow, in both magnitudes and spacial distributions. The results of the flow behind the semi-circular orifice was found to be appropriate, where strong fluid motion across the pipe was observed. The possible sources of ambiguity in the measurement were addressed, and the uncertainty in the measurement of the both flow configurations was found to be nearly the same.
