Abstract
The real time analysis by mass spectroscopic method were designed and set up to identify the products of mannuronic acid decomposition during various hydrothermal pretreatment conditions. Temperatures was changed in the range of 140-220 ℃ and residence times was changed between 5-10 min. The real time analysis was performed by quadrupole mass analyzer coupled with a continuous reactor by means of custom build-connection fittings with small orifice spray nozzle. Real time analysis method which analyzed hot liquid sample directly from reactor and once quenched method which analyzed collected cooled liquid samples, were compared and described. These mass analysis results were compared with traditional high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis results..
