This is the third study in a series which explores the possibilities of utilizing stories from the Once Upon a Time Story Corpus as a useful means to teach introductory level English learners in Japan. Using words, phrases and typical plots frequently employed in the stories based on folk tales or children's stories in the corpus, ways in which English learners and teachers can create their own original stories are discussed. True life stories compiled in the corpus have story specific plots and lexical phrases not suitable for teaching material for beginning level learners and are therefore excluded from the resource. However, the stories based on folk tales or children's stories, which generally follow common plots and use the same lexical phrases repeatedly, will be a rich resource in the development of very effective teaching material in classrooms. To conclude this study, an example of a story composed with a typical plot and repeated lexical phrases is attached. It is accompanied by a range of learning activities at an introductory level.
