This study investigates the effect of operating temperature on the optimum cycle time of adsorption chillers maximizing the specific cooling power (SCP). The objective is to construct an experimental expression to determine the optimum cycle time at each operating temperature. Silica gel-water pair was chosen as the adsorbent-adsorbate combination so that low temperature hot water under than 100℃ could be utilized as the driving heat source. The mathematical model of the adsorption chiller was constructed using numerical software 'MATLAB/Simulink' and a optimization method called the golden search section method was applied in the simulation to obtain the optimum cycle time. This optimum cycle time was obtained at each 5 patterns temperature of hot water, cooling water and chilled water. A construction of experimental expression was based on the calculated optimum cycle time. The results show that the experimental expression agrees very well with the calculated value.
