The structure using laminated rubber bearing has been constructed since early 1980's. In the Great Hanshin Earthquake, 1995, the effectiveness of the isolated structure was proved in near the epicenter. Moreover, the base isolation performance had been confirmed in the Great East Japan Earthquake, too. This study has been conducted to develop the laminated rubber bearing using urethane elastomer. Urethane elastomer has some strong characteristics compared with rubber material, for example, good withstanding, abrasion resistance, ozone resistance, oil resistance, low-temperature characteristics and good absorbing shock. Moreover, mechanical characteristic can be set in the design of mixing stage. It has an excellent characteristic even in the product manufacture to process into various shapes because of casting by using the mold. In the previous research and development of the study, it had been confirmed the desirable characteristics as a base isolation material. The fundamental characteristics have been investigated from several loading test by using various experimental devices, and the design formula for the stiffness and equivalent damping coefficient is formulated as an approximate expression of mechanical characteristics until now In this paper, the some evaluation tests for material properties and for accelerated deterioration test are described. In the future, it is important to examine the development of small scale rubber bearing for light weight structure and precision machine.
