This report presents a review of various studies on concurrent (combined and conjoint) individual and group psychotherapy for anthropophobia and developmental disorder in Japan. There have been many reports about concurrent individual and group psychotherapy for anthropophobia, and there have been a few reports regarding the connection between individual psychotherapy and group one. These reports implied that group psychotherapy is effective against anthropophobiac symptoms, while individual psychotherapy is useful for interpersonal problems. On the other hand, there have been few reports about the connection between individual psychotherapy and group one of concurrent individual and group psychotherapy for developmental disorders. However, there are new approaches for developmental disorders; pair-based group therapy in which a therapist is in charge of a child and play therapy in triad for skill acquisition and interpersonal orientation. Recently, anthropophobia get mild and psychotherapy approaches for mild developmental disorders and developmental disorders in adulthood have increased in Japan. With these changes, the number of cases in which traditional psychotherapy approaches have encountered difficulties has increased, so new approaches are required. This study suggested that concurrent individual and group psychotherapy is effective not only in anthropophobia, but also in mild anthropophobia and developmental disorders. The setting is so significant that one therapist and one client pair off in groups to foster a secure relationship and promote the interaction with the other persons.
