Abstract

The purpose of this research was to reveal that stability of romantic relationships was predicted by interaction in couple. At first, we argued about Causal Analysis of Kelley et al. (1983) who focused on interaction in dose relationships, and suggested a model that close relationships were classified into three domains (Phenomenon occurrence, Interaction pattern, Causal condition). Then, based on the model, how the interaction pattern in romantic relationships affects the relationship evaluation and degree of love to their partner were examined. The participants were 119 undergraduates (74 male, 45 female) who were currently involved in romantic relationships. The results of the analysis showed that participants who expressed closeness strongly and had dated with their partner for a short period tended to feel passionate love, and that participants who expressed closeness frequently and had dated with their partner for a long period tended to feel companionate love. Moreover, participants who showed closeness frequently and strongly gave their relationships high evaluation in cognitive aspects.
