In this study, 75 elderly people in day care participated in a mini fashion show as models and evaluated the clothes they wore. The clothes were selected by the elderly themselves from among 51 samples of five different themes, including fast fashion brands and conservative brands. Among the five themes, the elderly liked fast fashion brands most (61.3%). Few of them considered costly clothes a status symbol, and many tended to like distinctive-looking trendy clothes. A covariance structure analysis was conducted to clarify the relationship between the elderly's "fashion behavior" and "wearing evaluation. The results showed that the elderly's "fashion behavior" had a strong influence on their "wearing evaluation" (path coefficient of 0.86), which is reflected in findings such as the more the elderly believe "I want to look youthful" or "The clothes you wear can affect people's trust in you," the more they answered yes to "I am interested in fashion therapy" and "Enjoying fashion puts me in a positive frame of mind." The structural equation model of "wearing evaluation" onsisted of 3 latent constructs ("fashion therapy," "conformity," and "a sense of stability/relief) with 8 manifest variables. Significant path coefficients showed positive effects for "conformity" on "a sense of stability/relief" (0.46) and for "a sense of stability/relief" on "fashion therapy" (0.96).

超高齢化が進む中,本研究は,高齢者のファッション行動を支援することが介護予防・リハビリにつながるかどうかを検討することを目的とした。まず,日本の高齢者は,ヨーロッパの高齢者のように,若者が着ているトレンド商品の衣服について,年齢差を気にせず着用するかどうかを検討する。次に,ミニ・ファッションショー体験後,質問紙調査を行い,高齢者の「ファッション行動」と「着装評価」の関係構造を共分散構造分析手法(構造方程式モデリング)により明らかにする。
