Abstract

本稿では、２０１１年に日本テレビ系列で放送された連続ドラマ『妖怪人間ベム』に見られる仏教思想を考察した。このドラマの中で、ベムたちは自分たちがどのような境遇にあっても救いを求める人間がいる限り救い続けるという浄土教の法蔵菩薩に通じる行動原理を示していた。さらにその最終回では、自らの人間になりたいという夢を断念して人間たちを永久に救い続けるという決断をする。これは大悲闡提の菩薩に通じる境地を示していたのである。

This paper investigates Buddhism thought included in a Japanese serial TV drama “Humanoid Monster Bem”. In the story, Bem helps anyone in need, even if he also had any difficulties. In his attitude, we can find a kind of Bodhisattva thought of Buddhism. In addition to this, in the last episode of this TV drama, Bem chooses to continue his salvation activity forever at the sacrifice of his own dream of becoming a human being. It is the thought of Boddhisattvaicchantika, which immeasurably deepens Altruism of Bodhisattva, that his decision in this episode represents.
