抄録

The process of team building of NK University women's volleyball team proceeding the West Japan University Women's Volleyball Championships in 2006 was examined in an effort to extract the causes of defeat in the semifinal game and get insight into effective coaching in volleyball. Main finding were as follows: 1) It was clarified that it is difficult to win an important game when the performance of the team is influence by change in the environment of the court. 2) It was observed that having confidence is important for winning the big game and that the confidence derives from the quality and the amount of practice before the game. 3) Review of the game by the players through watching the recordings and writing a report on it is a very important feedback to the team building afterwards. 4) In a tournament where all the games are scheduled in a very short period,a player who can change the atmosphere of the team is necessary to win,especially when the team has to struggle with the bad condition of the team. 5) The coaches'mind-set to “just keep up the performance of the team"is likely to lead to “lowering the performance of the team,"however short it may be.Therefore, in any condition,it is important for coaches to have the spirit to “move forward" to keep winning.
