The dissolved total and reactive aluminum in the Seta River water were determined byGraphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry(GFAAS) and flow-injection fluorometry usingan aluminum-lumogallion complex. The effect of the membrane filter pore-size on the seasonalvariation in the dissolved total and reactive aluminum concentrations during May 2013 and January2014 was examined. The mainly used pore-sizes were 0.1, 0.22, 0.45, 0.8, 3, and 8μm. A significanteffect of the pore-size was observed on the dissolved total aluminum concentration, while the effectof the pore-size was low on the dissolved reactive aluminum concentration. A high concentration inthe dissolved total aluminum was observed in the autumn due to the heavy rain produced by atyphoon, while the effect of the typhoon was insignificant on the dissolved reactive aluminumconcentration. It was concluded that the concentration of aluminum adsorbed on the surface of themicroparticles that passed through the membrane filter was negligible compared to the concentration of the dissolved monomeric aluminum.
