OIU holds Leadership Training programs for students who participate in extracurricular activities as committee officers. The first purpose of this study was to verify the effects on student's feelings of belonging to OIU and their social skills through programs of Leadership Training with faculty members. The second was to determine any interaction between social skills and feelings of belonging through the training. The training consisted of ASE, cutter boats, outdoor cooking and campus meetings and 88 OIU students (46 male and 42 female) participated. Students completed the KiSS18 and Social Identity Inventory before and after the programs. The results showed significant improvements in feelings of belonging to OIU and social skills through the programs. Also that there was no interaction between feelings of belonging to OIU and social skills.
