Abstract

The very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray detection from distant galaxies is one of the most important things to understand the activity of these galaxies and the extragalactic background light (EBL). We selected the distant blazer AO 0235+164 (z=0.94) as a highly variable galaxy at high redshift and probed for the EBL density. We analyzed the Fermi high energy (HE) gamma-ray space telescope data to investigate the HE gammaray properties of AO 0235+164 and detection possibility of the VHE gamma rays from this object. We found the high HE gamma-ray activity of AO 0235+164 and the HE gamma-ray spectrum peak shift. VHE gamma-ray radiation from AO 0235+164 could be detected by the current VHE gamma-ray telescope (MAGIC) when the target object in the high state (integral flux 〓 9 × 10-7 cm-2 s-1) and this object is difficult to be detected constantly by the next generation VHE gamma-ray telescope like CTA.
