抄録

Choi Nam-son is known as representative historian, folklorist in Korean modern times together with a pioneer of the new culture movement. As he tried wide researches over various fields, there have been many discussions and approaches from learned circles. By the way, previous researches of lighting up he's interests on Buddhism were not many unexpectedly. However, Buddhism had very important meaning to Choi Nam-son actually. He spoke reminiscently such like ‘I had consciousness on Buddhism's importance' in 「Bulham culture」, his masterpiece and in-depth research process on Dangun. Also, he recommended publications of Buddhism-related literatures as a part of Joseonhak Movement, what is paid attention to is related to a study like 「choson Buddhism」 having been announced at 1930. In this dissertation, he made an assertion that 'Wonhyo is finisher of Buddhist Uniformity,' and this affected large influences to term's formation of ‘Buddhist Uniformity (tsubukkyo)' that symbolizes Korean Buddhism now. Besides, cultural area's theory having been mapped out by Choi Nam-son in person is reflected to the dissertation, and relations with 'Buddhist Uniformity Theory' that had been popularized in Buddhist circles of Japan's Meiji Era can be analogized. Therefore, this study investigates Choi Nam-son's interests on Buddhism and related activities, and tries to look into him by focusing on the idea of Buddhist Uniformity Theory especially.
