抄録

This study discussed developmental changes of image for the future in middle-aged women. A survey of the subject was taken part in by 303 women from 40 to 60 years-old. The participants were categorized into 4 groups, early 40s, late 40s, early 50s, and late 50s. The following main factors were found from their comments. (a)a positive prospect (b)interaction with others (c) a stable lifestyle (d) acknowledgment of aging process (e)anxiety and conflict. Overall, middle-aged women have positive vision of their future. Women in their 40s mentioned their expectations for their life in 50s. On the other hand, women in their early 40s felt a vague anxiety about their future. Women in their 50s attempted to accept aging, and they also hoped for an independent life. Developmental changes of image for the future in middle-aged women were discussed.
