電子図書館Ariadneの開発(1) : —システム設計の方針— Development of the electronic library "Ariadne" (1) : —Issues related to the systems design—

本論文は電子図書館システムAriadneに関する5編の論文の最初のものである。まず電子図書館が従来の図書館とどのように違うものであるかを述べ,電子図書館の一つの理想の姿がどのようなものであるかを具体的に説明した。さらに,それを具体的に実現するために持つべき機能の概要,システム構成,ユーザ·インタフェース,システム構築支援機能,ネットワーク構成などについて詳しく述べた。他の4編の論文で詳細が述べられている機能などについては,簡単に触れるだけにとどめた。

This paper is the first of a series of five papers which deal with the electronic library "Ariadne". In this paper, after discussing the differences between traditional libraries and the electronic library, the goals of the electronic library to be aimed at are examined. Then, necessary functions for realizing the goals are outlined and systems configuration, user interface, support functions for system construction, network architecture are explained in detail. Those functions to be dealt with in subsequent papers are mentioned only briefly.
