Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) was found in a 27 year-old woman who had surgery for esophagogastric varices subsequent to extrahepatic portal vein obstraction. Two reoperation were carried out for the recurrence of gastric varices during 6 years. She had no history of taking oral contraceptives. Several abdominal angiographies were performed because of the recurrent varices. Resection of the liver tumor underwent in the suspicion of hepatocellular carcinoma. Pathological diagnosis of the tumor was FNH. The abdominal angiographic study in this case during about 9 years revealed that many hepatopetal collaterals were visible at first, but decreased with the passege of time. A tumor staing in the liver, which was shown at the last angiography, was not recognized 2 years and 4 months earlier. These factors suggested that this development of FNH was related to the change in blood flow of the liver in this patient.
