Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCF) was initially delineated in 1978 and has since been described in a large number of patients.<BR>Its major features include clefting of the secondary palate, cardiac anomalies, characteristic facies, learning disabilities, etc. Several authors have previously reported that their speech results after the repair of overt cleft palates were poorer than those in patients without VCF syndrome.<BR>In this paper, the author estimated the postoperative speech of 11 children who had features of VCF syndrome and discussed various factors related to their speech results.
