抄録

Two cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma of salivary glands were studied ultrastructually; one of which was well-differentiated (case 1), and the other was undifferentiated (case 2). These tumors consisted mainly of mucous producing cells, epidermoid cells, and two types of intermediate cells which were identified as mitochondria-rich cells and undifferentiated cells. The clear cells under light microscopy in case 1 were observed as glycogenrich cells or ribosome-rich cells by electron-microscopy. There were large amounts of untypical form of component cells in the both tumors. In addition, a few dense granules, comparable with serous granules, were observed in some cells.
