The purpose of this paper is to explore the politics of same-sex marriages. First, I pointed out that the modern family, based on the heterosexual norm, marginalizes homosexuals, and deprives them of opportunities to form families. Second, I indicated that the discourse that the dissolution of the marriage system recognizes the diversity presupposes the outside of power relations.<BR> Through analysis of the arguments which defend the family system, I argued the following three points. First, the refusal of same-sex marriages based on the definition of marriage conceals that the law employs the specified definition arbitrarily. Second, the refusal based on reproduction is on the grounds that samesex couples don' t produce normative heterosexual families and the gender norm, therefore the demand for same-sex marriages protests against the relation of families, normative heterosexuality, and the gender norm. Third, the demand for same-sex marriages expounds the problems of the frame work of public, private matters based on the heterosexual norm in modern society.
