抄録

It has been hitherto believed that in the nystagmus on removal of one labyrinth or by compensation, contraction of the eye-muscles is greatest in the horinzontali, next greatest in the verticali and least in the obliqui, but the cause of this has not yet been discovered.<br>The following results were obtained from the authors' experiments.<br>1) The contraction of the eye-muscles themselves is greatest in the verticali, next greatest in the horinzontali and least in the obliquii.<br>2) The order of strength in which the eye-muscles are affected by the central irritation is 1, horinzontali 2, obliquii, 3, verticali.<br>3) The diagonal direction of the nystagmus after removal of one labyrinth or by compensation is due to the contractive ability of the eye-muscles themselves and to the central irritation.
