As a preliminary experiment, a dry human skull was lined with a vinyl bag in which 3 rubber balloons-containing 20 ml of Angiografin, water, and air respectively-were fixed with 3 stays. An agaragar solution mixed with Angiografin (65% Angiografin: 1.5% agaragar solution=10: 750) was injected into this bag and then cooled and solidified. Circus zonography was carried out on this phantom. The balloon filled with water was sufficiently visualized. This fact suggested to us that, when the unilateral cerebral hemisphere is filled homogeneously with 10ml of 65% Angiografin and circus zonography is used, an intracerebral hematoma or cyst at least 3cm in diameter might possibly be visualized on the film. An almost identical condition will be attained in a clinical case when arterial, capillary and venous phases are simultaneously filled by angiotomography with a single dye injection divided into a 3-step administration.<BR>Twelve cases of intracerebral hematoma-10 cases of lateral type and 2 cases of combined type-which were confirmed by operation or autopsy, underwent the cerebral angiotomography by our method. Six of the 12 cases showed the intracerebral hematoma as avascular areas surrounded by vessels in both of the coronal and the sagittal sections, and 4 of these 6 cases underwent angiotomography with the small conic vertical angle. Five of the 12 cases showed the same findings only in the coronal section. There was only one case showing no avascular area in both sections.
