The resistivity against permeation of corrosive substances and the adhesion of film to substrates are considered to be the essential functions required for anti-corrosive coatings.
In order to elucidate the roles played by these functions, double layer coatings were employed in this study.
As results of experiments, it was found that stress relaxation properties (mechanical properties) as well as barrier effect are required for bulk portion of coatings.
Hydrogen-bonding capability of coated films plays a major role at the interface between coatings and substrates.
