The Amount and Particle Size of Aluminum Nitride at Austenitic Grain Coarsening Temperatures in Various Low Carbon Steels

抄録

The amount and particle size of aluminum nitride existing at austenitic grain coarsening temperatures in low carbon low alloy steels have been investigated. After the solution treatment of aluminum nitride at 1200°C and subsequent quenching, the austenitic grain coarsening temperatures were measured by heating for 5 hr at various austenitic temperatures. The bromine-ester technique was applied to the extraction of aluminum nitride and the amount of nitrogen composing aluminum nitride was determined. The particle size was measured using an electron microscopic technique. It is shown that the aluminum nitride of 60∼100 ppm in amount and 10−15 cm3 in average size is necessary to prevent the austenitic grain coarsening after the solution treatment.
