抄録
The effect of mechanical polishing on the magnetic properteis of single crystals of Mn–Zn ferrite were investigated. The following results were obtained:<BR>(1) The effect of mechanical polishing on magnetic properties depended on the crystal orientation, and the order of effectiveness was as follows:<BR>(100)>(110)>(111)<BR>{⟨100⟩(001)}>{⟨110⟩(001)}>{⟨111⟩(011)}.<BR>(2) The depth of the deformed surface layer (1∼2 μm) increased with polishing-powder size. Magnetic properties recovered after the deformed layer was etched off.<BR>(3) It was found by electron-beam diffraction that the crystal structure of the deformed surface layer was amorphous or ultra-fine-grained.
