Equations for Surface Tension Related with Thermodynamic Enthalpy and Activities of the Binary Molten Alloys

The present study was made to find equations for the surface tension of molten alloys related to their surface and body activities.<BR>It was found that there was a close relation between the internal surface tension and the enthalpy of mixing of molten zinc-bismuth alloys. This finding provided an important basis for the study of this problem. The derived empirical relationship seems to apply to a number of alloy systems. The surface tension was thus correlated successfully with the surface and the body activities by employing a new concept of force balance.
