抄録

There are few reports of nasotracheal intubation with an aid of lightwand (TrachlightTM) especially in children. We report a 4-year-old boy with mandibular hypoplasia, severe disturbance of opening mouth and other minor anomalies, who received nasotracheal intubation successfully with a lightwand. He had the two previous episodes of naso-tracheal blind intubation after failure of intubation with an aid of fiberoptic bronchoscopy. This time we again could not intubate nasotrachealy with a fiberoptic bronchoscopy. We then tried the intubation with the aid of lightwand, and could intubate within a half minute. Nasotracheal intubation with TrachlightTM seems to be one of the choice for children with difficult airway.
