抄録

Amoebiasis is infectious disease by low, and has been increasing reported recently. This hospital has facilities to accept such patients with infectious diseases designated by low occurred in Nagoya city and its outskirts. In this study 27 cases of amoebiasis experiencedin a recent one decade from 1982 to 1992 were examined on the diagnosis and treatment.<br> There were 19 cases of colitis and eight cases of hepatic abscess, and the male-to-female ratio was 22 to 5. In male cases, more than half of them appeared to have homosexual behavior. The correct diagnosing rate at the first visit was 14% for the colitis cases or 25% for the hepatic abscess cases, showing a low rate. Measurement of serum antibody titer was conducted on four types, and favorable outcomes were obtained such as 67% for colitis cases and 100% for hepatic abscess cases.<br> It is though that examination of feces and measurement of serum antibodies are easy and useful methods. Further aggressive use of these methods for patients complaining of mucous stood with blood who returned from abroad or have homosexual behavior may contribute to early diagnosis of amoebiasis.
