抄録

Four young patients with migraine are reported who developed brain infarction. An importance of migraine as a risk factor for cerebral vascular disease is emphasized. The first patient presented with a typical attack of complicated migraine which resulted in brain infarction. In this patient prolonged cerebral vasospasm was suspected as an underlying cause of brain infarction. Other three patients had history of only migrain-without-aura (common migraine) and cerebral vasospasm was an unlikely cause of brain infarction. In two of these patients brain infarction occurred during pregnancy and in one other patient migraine was closely related with menstruation. It was suggested that the combination of migraine and the alteration of estrogen and other hormones may enhance platelet aggregation and in turn may cause ischemic attacks.
