We studied on the postoperative deviation, binocular vision and retinal correspondence in eight acquired esotropes who showed positive prism adaptation test, (positive PAT) (“eat up”) and underwent augmented surgery.<br>These patients were classified into 3 groups according to the postoperative retinal correspondence. The first group included esotropes with normal retinal correspondence (NRC) and final deviation of less than 14Δ who showed improved binocular vision during the follow up period. The second group included esotropes with anomalous retinal correspondence (ARC) and favourable postoperative ocular deviation. The third group included esootropes with ARC whose retinal correspondence changed to NRC after overcorrection of preoperative esotropia. During the follow up period after the augmented surgery, favourable ocular alignment was obtained and there has not been any complaint of diplopia, however, further observation was considered necessary for evaluation of the augmented surgery.
