Transfer factor was prepared from the spleens and lymph nodes of guinea pigs immunized with killed Candida albicans. The supernatant of lysate when the lymphoid cell was disrupted by freezing and thawing was applied to ultrafiltration by a diaflo membrane of M. W. 10, 000. The filtrated fluid was used as a dialyzable-transfer factor. The preparation was shown to transfer, antigen-specific cell-mediated immunity to native quinea pigs; this was especially true of the polypeptide rich antigen of Candida albicans. However, transfer did not occur when other antigens, the polysaccharide rich antigen of Candida albicans, purified protein derivative (PPD), Cryptococuccin, ovalbumin (OVA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA), were given simultaneously, as shown by results of the delayed skin test, histological examination and macrophage migration inhibition test. Reactivity was demonstrated when test antigens were given 1 or 2 days after the transfer factor treatment.
