抄録

In the previous paper, the authors have reported the water solubilization of kraft lignin by various kinds of oxidizing catalysts-sodium sulfite combination treatment. However, because of the toxic moieties from oxidizing catalysts, those processes might be very difficult to be feasible. In this study, ferrous (or ferric) compound-sodium persulfate-sodium sulfite combination which is completely free from toxicity, was found to be a hopeful system for the water solubilization of kraft lignin. Dispersing properties of sulfonated kraft lignin thus prepared, were also evaluated in comparison with those of lignin sulfonate.
