抄録

The student-and parent-behaviors for the female school-uniform of tailored suit-type were measured by the Semantic Differential method. The interactions among thirty terms to express visual impressions were studied by the method of a factor analysis. The results obtained were as follows.<BR>It was recognized that the visual impressions-profiles were under the control of age or sex, and the marks obtained in the terms containing the symbolic or decorous elements were higher than those in the case of the other ones. It was found by a factor analysis that the visual impressions for the female uniform were composed of six factors. Among them, the following three factors; functional-, symbolic-or decorous-and seeming-one showed higher contribution ratios. It was recognized, moreover, that the seeming factor was the most important one in the preference for the female uniform.
