Electrical conductivities and thermoelectric power of the complexes of phthalocyanine with halogen (iodine or bromine) have been studied. The electrical conductivity of phthalocyanines exposed to halogen vapor increases drastically up to 10 to 11 orders of magnitude, and its activation energies of the complexes with higher conductivities are smaller than those with lower conductivities. Positive thermoelectric power is observed in these complexes, which indicates a hole conduction in these materials. The absorption spectra of thin films of these complexes are also strongly influenced by halogen.
