It was found that some electrophysiological events observed at and around the state of spontaneous repetitive firing of action potentials were well simulated by the modified and/or reduced Hodgkin-Huxley equations. The events tested were; (1) the frequency dependence of threshold to evoke action potentials when the mixture ratio of natural sea water (NSW) and 550 mM NaCl as external fluid medium was a parameter, (2) linear dependence of the threshold upon the external sodium concentration, (3) the power spectra of fluctuating membrane potentials when the mixture ratio of NSW and 550 mM NaCl was changed, and (4) effect of external sinusoidal current upon spontaneous repetitive spikes.
