抄録

The characteristics of the equilibrium of a current carrying plasma of a circular cross section with a non-planar magnetic axis are studied analytically. The displacement of the plasma column in comparision with a geomtrical axis of the system is derived. It is shown that the external magnetic field is required to maintain the equibribrium position of the plasma column at desired values. The stability conditions of MHD instabilities of the plasma column with a straight helical magnetic axis are determind by making use of the negative V″ criterion and the energy priciple.
