抄録

The temperature coefficient of reactivity of British type gas cooled reactors becomes positive, as the fuel burn-up proceeds. Instabilities of this type of reactors due to a positive temperature coefficient of reactivity require special considerations in the control system design.<BR>The stability of such a control system was analyzed by means of Nyquist's stability criterion and it was concluded that, <BR>(1) The system is unstable, when its gain is either too high or too low, whose limits are shown in Table II.<BR>(2) Rate action in controllers is favorable, while reset action is not.<BR>(3) Nonlinearities introduced into the linear control system, such as deadband or saturation, make the system unstable even for a moderate gain.<BR>(4) When the discontinuous control is adopted, <BR>a) the system becomes unstable for a lower gain.<BR>b) a stable limit cycle and an unstable one exist for a medium gain.<BR>c) two stable limit cycles and two unstable ones exist for a higher gain. and in any case, the system either diverges or undergoes sustained oscillations corresponding to stable limit cycles.<BR>Some of the results obtained by analog computer are also shown in order to ascertain the results obtained by the above mentioned method.
