抄録

Sulfoquinovosyl diglyceride (sulfolipid) were separated by chromatography on a ECTEOLA cellulose column from the extracts of mulberry leaves and faeces of silkworm larvae. Lipid from the leaves which had been labeled with ³⁵S-sulfuric acid for 24 hours separated to five ³⁵S containing fractions on column chromatography. Most of the ³⁵S in the lipid fraction was recovered as sulfolipid. No appreciable amounts of ³⁵S, however, were recognized as sulfolipid in the extract of the faeces of silkworm larvae which were fed ³⁵S-containing mulberry leaves. These results suggest that silkworm larvae actively dissimilate sulfolipid, which is the most abundant among the sulfur containing lipids in mulberry leaves.<br>When ³⁵S labelled sulfolipid which was recovered from the extract of mulberry leaves was fed to the larvae, ³⁵S was not incorporated into the cell constituent of the larvae and ³⁵S of sulfolipid was entirely excreted.
